Payments built by people
who ran travel.
For 15 years we operated global travel platforms — transfers, charters, experiences. We didn't study travel payments in a workshop; we paid the fees, fought the chargebacks and reconciled the spreadsheets. Veloqen is the platform we wished existed.
The reality
Travel money is hard money.
Generic providers see travel as a risk category. We see it as a set of solvable problems — because we've solved them for our own platforms.
Paid today, delivered in June
The gap between payment and service is where generic risk engines panic and issuers decline. Veloqen prices that gap correctly — capture strategies and risk built around the booking lifecycle.
Chargebacks with a story
Cancelled flights, weather, no-shows. Dispute defence needs booking data — itineraries, confirmations, communication trails — attached to the transaction automatically.
Suppliers everywhere
Drivers in Istanbul, captains in Split, guides in Lisbon. Paying hundreds of suppliers across borders, currencies and schedules is a product — not a banking chore.
FX leakage
Collect in euros, pay a captain in kuna-turned-euros, refund in pounds. Every conversion without control is margin quietly leaving the building.
Seasonal peaks
August does 6× February. Infrastructure, risk thresholds and reserves need to breathe with the season — not strangle it.
The "high-risk" label
Travel MCCs get worse rates, higher reserves and slower underwriting by default. Clean traffic deserves underwriting that reads the data, not the category code.
How it runs on Veloqen
One booking, start to finish.
Schedule-aware capture
Authorise now, capture on confirmation, or split capture across deposit and balance — matched to your cancellation policy.
Supplier-grade payouts
Individual drivers and small operators onboarded with KYC that doesn't scare them off, paid on schedules they can rely on. Virtual cards for supplier payments are on the issuing roadmap.
Multi-entity, multi-currency
Regional entities, one reporting surface. Balances per currency and per company — consolidated when you need the group view.
Where the money goes · one booking
Use cases
If it moves travellers, it fits.
We didn't study travel payments.
We lived them.
The team behind Veloqen built and operated a group of global travel platforms — transfers and chauffeur rides, yacht and boat charter, tours and experiences — connecting millions of travellers with thousands of transport and experience suppliers worldwide. Every feature on this page exists because at some point, we needed it and couldn't buy it.
Travel payments FAQ
Isn't travel automatically "high-risk"?
Travel MCCs carry a high-risk label because of delayed delivery — not because your traffic is bad. We underwrite on booking data: payment-to-service gap, refund policy, dispute history, seasonality. Reserves are sized by your actual risk profile, not by the category code.
How do you handle the gap between payment and the trip?
Capture strategies matched to your cancellation policy (authorise now, capture on confirmation, split deposit and balance), schedule-aware risk scoring, and reserves that release as delivery is confirmed — the gap is priced and managed, not feared.
What about chargebacks from cancellations and weather?
Itineraries, confirmations and communication trails attach to the transaction automatically, so representment starts from evidence, not from a scramble. Policy-aware refund automation resolves most cases before they ever become disputes.
Can you pay suppliers in their own currency?
Yes — payouts ride local rails where possible, with FX locked at quote time and every conversion itemised. Virtual cards for supplier payments are on the issuing roadmap.
Your volume deserves better rails.
Bring your payment mix — we'll walk through exactly how it would run on Veloqen, including the fees, line by line.
